The IPVision Softswitch is a multi-layer telephony architecture distributed in different elements:

Command Center

Is the core element in this IN-modeled design, IPVision’s centralized hub of VoIP network intelligence. Like an IN Service Control Point (SCP)

Element Management System (CEMS)

Is designed to effectively manage the functions and capabilities of IPVision® Softswitch provides standards-based interfaces for communication with higher-level business system.

Border Agent
A SIP NAT Transversal advanced solution. Hides the identification of remote edge devices within your network when facilitating the exchange of traffic between carriers
Class 4 Call Manager (C4CM)

Is the strategically crucial central call control element of IPVision’s end-to-end PSTN access softswitch solution

Class 5 Call Manager (C5CM)

Is part of the IPVision architecture that supports Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) transmission in a Class 5-style deployment. C5CM is commonly used on VoBB application.

Gateways

The component of the IPVision’s Edge Access Solution, gives customers the immediate advantage of a carrier grade media gateway

“Nobody wants a feature for which it can’t bill. An integrated solution is the best weapon for your “killer application”. IPVision is all about monetizing your applications.”

Description

A softswitch is a programmable network element that processes signaling for different types of protocols. The softswitch replaces traditional switching equipment with a programmable device.

The Voice over IP (VoIP) is the collection of specific protocols that allow voice to be transmitted over a packet-switch IP network. The IP network is
a packet switching network in which messages are broken into packets at the source, and reassembled as the message is delivered to the destination.

The IPVision Edge Access Softswitch supports Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) transmission in a Class 5-style deployment. The Edge Access
Softswitch performs call routing, user authentication, connection control (call setup and teardown) and signaling in the IPVision network.

All IPVision Softswitch networks are comprised of three layers:

Intelligence
Processes network transactions and queries the database. The database contains call rating and routing, dial rules, call detail activity and overall system performance information.

Call Control (and Signaling)
Transports signaling within the IP network and between the IP network and the PSTN for setting up and tearing down calls.

Media Transport
Transports call content (media traffic) within the IP network and between the IP network and the PSTN.

A VoIP network is comprised of softswitch components; media gateways, customer premise gateways, call managers and signaling gateways:
