Clarent Element System (CEMS)

The Clarent® Element Management System (CEMS) is designed to effectively manage the functions and capabilities of Viasat’s industry leading Voice over IP solutions. It provides the foundation to implement TMN-layered operations support system architectures that enable service providers to meet customer needs for rapid deployment of new services, as well as meeting stringent quality of service and management requirements.
The Clarent® Element Management System provides standards-based interfaces for communication with higher-level business systems, enabling tasks such as integrated fault management and flow-through provisioning. The data accessible through these interfaces provides planning and analysis data directly to higher-level applications.
As the foundation of Viasat’s element management system, the Clarent® Element Management System is turnkey product combining software to provide a platform for integrated network management applications. The Clarent® Element Management System, forms the middle layer of a three-tier architecture and mediates information between management applications, network management systems, operational support systems and the database and network elements.

CEMS provides the following tools to manage the Clarent Softswitch components:

⁃ C4CM Configuration Tool

⁃ C4CM Controller

⁃ C5CM Configuration Tool

⁃ C5CM Controller

⁃ Process Management

⁃ Configure Server Group Tool

⁃ BHG 2500 Configuration Tool

⁃ Announcement Server Configuration Tool

The Clarent® Element Management System (CEMS) is the key enabler for globally dispersed network administrators. Vital tasks can be performed simultaneously anywhere Internet access is available. CEMS provides integrated fault, configuration, provisioning and performance management enabling operators to efficiently manage the network.
With the inherent flexibility within the Viasat architecture, service providers can allow customer access to selected network management information in real-time. Providing customer access to allow self-provisioning of enhanced services gives carriers a competitive advantage as well as reduces the overhead of required service representative interaction. All Viasat network elements are managed remotely using configuration tools (Java applets) that reside on CEMS. These configuration tools are used to control, configure and provision the Clarent® PSTN Access Softswitch and the PSTN access softswitch.

CEMS Features

• Ability to initiate remote configuration changes

• Enables multiple administrators simultaneous access to network applications

• Provides distributed and secure access to network data
