Command Center

A key competitive advantage of IPVision’s VoIP Solution is its robust IN-based design for service management and provisioning. The core element in this IN-modeled design is the Clarent® Command Center , IPVision’s centralized hub of VoIP network intelligence. Like an IN Service Control Point (SCP), the Clarent® Command Center consists of a robust data store and a series of applications that interface to the data store. Unlike an SCP, however, Viasat separates the data store from the application and designs all elements based on open protocols and architectures. Through its Open Database Connectivity (SQL relational data format) to industry standard databases, Clarent® Command Center provides rating, routing, service control and billing on a secure, redundant system.

The Command Center performs the following functions:

⁃ Authenticates callers and network elements and identifies domains
⁃ Provides ability to define subscribers and endpoints
⁃ Provides call routes, dial rules and call rates to network elements
⁃ Facilitates free and blocked call options and real-time billing
⁃ Enables endpoint provisioning of call features
⁃ Identifies when calls are subject to Number Portability (NP)1
⁃ Identifies when calls are subject to Lawful Interception (LI)2
⁃ Supports call restriction for endpoints
⁃ Facilitates extended services support (emergency services, directory services)
⁃ Facilitates support for carrier selection
⁃ Collects CDR information
⁃ Tracks NE status and statistics
⁃ Balances loads among call routes⁃ Monitors network performance

IPVision’s products have been designed to easily integrate into Telecommunications Management Network (TMN) environments. Subscribers, call processing, gateways, and customer premises equipment can therefore be incrementally added in a seamless fashion.

The Clarent® Command Center‘s modular design facilitates the introduction of new network services and features. IPVision’s customers today operate calling card, single stage, and enterprise and wholesale networks on unified Command Center infrastructure supporting millions of calls per day. Many have recently offered their subscribers new capabilities including service classes, and increased CODEC choices.
By expanding the IPVision’s data model to Clarent® Class 5 Call Manager-supported edge devices with E.164 address assignment and supplementary services provisioning, IPVision Inc. delivers on the true promise of VoIP. Rapid introduction of competitive service offerings that increase revenues and retain subscribers is now a reality.
The Clarent® Command Center database is ODBC compliant. This allows service providers to rapidly develop and deploy new features on their own, through IPVision’s partners or through third- party software development.
The Clarent® Command Center works through the Clarent® Class-5 Call Manager to furnish subscribers with CPE edge devices supplementary services, access to core centralized services and VPN capabilities. Best of all, operators can provision these services through a single, unified interface that routes the necessary parameters to the appropriate locations in the VoIP network.
The Clarent® Command Center provides configuration management from a standard web browser, and provides standards-based network management support via a rich set of SNMP services.
