23-Mar-2012 • Marshall Islands : Viasat deploys RTs Satellite Softswitch solution with SIMA & TES Portal

The Marshall Islands consist of two island chains of 30 atolls and 1,152 islands, of low coral limestone and sand. Bikini and Enewetak are former US nuclear test sites; Kwajalein, the famous World War II battleground, is now used as a US missile test range.

The Marshall Islands consists of 29 atolls and 5 isolated islands, of which 24 are inhabited. They can be grouped into two island chains: Ralik, Ratak.

The network is designed to provide low density telephony and optional Internet access. The very low-powered RTs Lines will be designed to combine multiple low rate telephone circuits while minimizing power consumption, making them ideal for solar operation. High-speed Internet connection is an optional feature. The ViaSat network design includes multi-transponder operation that enables seamless connections no matter the location of the rural terminal within the Marshall Island.

Due to this Viasat trues IPVision to provide its SIMA suite ( SIMA, SIMA Portal and the newly TES Portal development ) in order to have an unified privisioning point for every element in the network.

With its TES Portal solution, especially designed for this project, the operators can manage Rural Telephone lines and price lists, among other things, on-demand without intervention of Viasat personal.
